Biluochun is a traditional Chinese tea of more than 1,000 years. Superior Biluochun appears to be green and covered by a layer of white hair. The shape is slender or curled like a snail. After brewing, the tea water is green and clear, giving off a strong pleasant fragrance; the fresh and thick flavor can last for a long time. This famous Chinese tea contains a lot of healthy compounds such as catechin, vitamin C and A, caffeine, flavanols, tea polyphenols, etc.

Biluochun tea belongs to green tea and one of the top 10 Chinese tea. It is a traditional Chinese tea with more than 1,000 years history. Produced in Dongting Mountain by Taihu Lake in Wu County, Suzhou City of Jiangsu Province, it is also known as Dongting Biluochun and Taihu Biluochun. It has many benefits to human body, such as losing weight, preventing decayed tooth, and delaying aging.

Why is it called Biluochun?

The dry tea, tight and curly like snails, slivery green with white hair, and picked in Spring, is hence called “Biluochun”, literally Green Snail in Spring.

Biluochun Tea Benefits

How to Choose Biluochun Tea

The Biluochun with good quality has special flower fragrance due to its geographical planting environment where tea trees and fruit trees, blooming all season, are intercropped. After brewing, the tea leaves slowly stretch out and fall down to the bottom of the cup, and the tea soup appears to be bright, clear and green with the long-lasting mellow fragrance. Last but not least, the best Biluochun is processed from leaves picked around Qingming Festival in early April.

Biluochun tea price can be varying greatly based on different qualities. The better the quality, the higher the price. For the best Biluochun tea, the price is usually about CNY 200 per 50 gram in China, while the price of the most commonly seen mid-level qualified Biluochun is about CNY 130 – 150 per 50 gram.
